Mad For Millinery

Via KhloeKardashian
Did you know: The mad hatter was crazy due to the large amounts of mercury vapors that milliners were frequently exposed to when felting the hats. Traits of mercury poisoning include irritability and pathological shyness. The phrase "mad as a hatter" has been around for nearly 200 years. Specifically, the inorganic forms of mercury were used to separate the furs of rabbits, hares and beavers from the pelts used for the hats.
